To meet the requirements of the steadily rising and currently strong
changing demands on surfaces, innovative concepts are necessary. Despite high cost pressure not only the automotive industry is looking for new opportunities to awake enthusiasm and to improve the quality sensibility significantly. This requirement could be met with PURIFLOW systems in conjunction with innovative tool concepts and special laser texturing – in one production process on one machine. Cost-intensive painting or wrapping processes with embossed skin can be replaced or new designs can be generated. With the modern technology of laser texturing, which replaces the traditional, chemical etching process, almost all design wishes as well as all requirements on haptic and optic could be fullfill: high gloss or matt, smooth or structured, hard or soft, all-over-surface or partial, transparent or colored, and much more. Lasertexturing

With the modern technology of laser texturing, not only all the grain that has traditionally been introduced by means of etching, erosion or blasting in injection molds can be replaced, but completely new possibilities in terms of design and quality can be realized. The laser texturing is characterized by absolute process reliability on 5-axis laser systems, max. Travels of 4,000 x 3,000 x 1,500 mm, fully digital processes without manual manual work and very short processing times i.V.z. conventional etching process.
This enables worldwide quality standards to be set which are no longer dependent on the know-how of a single employee. Likewise, for example, for decades known challenges such as dull gloss levels in, for example, PC, PC-ABS, ASA, etc. solved or sometimes even complete painting and laminating processes can be replaced. Approvals from car manufacturers are of course available!

PUR-Technology

The flooding of injection molded components with PUR allows the finishing of the component surface in the tool in a variety of ways. The paint systems not only provide excellent surface resistance, but also allow for perfect high-gloss surfaces as well as filigree structures. The low viscosity is the key to a component design that is unattainable for injection molding in terms of wall thickness / flow path ratio. Extremely low temperature, shear and pressure stresses allow the integration of sensitive decorative as well as functional structures.
To exploit this potential, however, special multi-component tools are required that optimally combine the different process requirements.
The tool for their success: Schöfer has meanwhile developed extensive know-how in a large number of projects together with partners and also has in-house plant technology to accompany projects from concept to series maturity.

PURIFLOW® RIM*

The RIM * technology in conjunction with paint systems of the Votteler Lackfabrik opens up the potential to produce and coat components quickly, economically and with unprecedented design freedom.
The PURIFLOW® RIM * system is
2-component, solvent-free, aliphatic polyurethane systems that are processed in high-pressure reaction casters.
Different substrates can be coated with PURIFLOW® coating systems. This opens up a very wide range of applications for interior and exterior parts in the automotive industry, in consumer goods, in the electronics sector as well as everywhere, where visible parts with high demands on surface quality and design are produced in larger quantities. From highly transparent to colored to new metallic effects and selectable degrees of hardness, the manifold properties of the PURIFLOW® coating systems stand out. Self-healing effect makes supposed “scratches” disappear by themselves. Since not all “scratches” can be avoided despite the high resistance, the coating material is equipped with a certain self-healing power (reflow effect). It ensures that scratches from a certain temperature – depending on the system variant already at room temperature – regress and are no longer visible. Compared to multicoat paint systems, the RIM process not only saves a considerable amount of time and significantly reduces material costs, it also offers great design diversity in the 3D area.
